I am having a bit of trouble with my ford taurus.

l let it run completely out of gas and now it doesnt wanna start.

The fuel pump is fine. it cranks over but doesnt starts
while it ran out of gas we were going up a hill
The pump does make sounds when the key is turned

When you say the fuel pump is fine, how do you know? Can you hear it running for two seconds when you turn the key forward? Can you hear it running when you crank the engine over?

Two basic needs for the engine to start are fuel and spark. Try to check for both at the engine.

It takes fuel and fire to run a car! First take out a spark plug and see if it is getting fuel after you crank it first with the fuel peddle pushed down! Then crank it over and see if it is getting fire from the spark plug by laying it on the block while turning it over and see if it sparks! If no fuel maybe the fuel cutout switch is tripped back in the truck area! You need to get a Hayes book on your car from a auto store!

also make sure that you have at least 2 gallons of gas in it . or your pickup in the tank wont draw

You may hear the fuel pump, but that means nothing. Make sure you have fuel pressure
