28HOW TO REMOVE A BOTTOM BALL JOINT ON A 2001 FORD EXPLORER PASSAGER SIDE

Undo the bolt on the ball joint then drive one of these bad boys between the joint and the other part until they seperate:

BUT Before you remove the nut on the ball joint, when you jack it up and remove tire, you need to make sure your jack and jackstand are NOT in contact with the lower control arm, when you separate them the control arm will want to drop, NOW ALSO,, Is it a 2wd or a 4wd,, That will make a difference too l believe, Go to an AutoZone nearby and they can show you on their computers,

Kinda like the other said put it on a jack stand tire off & remove the locking carter pin then take off the castle nut, some say to put it at the ball join upside down & smack it with a hammer, although l prefer to hit them on the spindle arm they r sticking from. If u use a ball peen or 16 oz hammer is will take several rapid hard blows. If u use a BFH it is easier & u will only have to hit it a time or two, do not be scared u will have to hit it, or smack the f out of it but it will just fall right out.
