Im getting a mustang GT, idk what yr yet 06-08...and l wanna know, what should l upgrade it with 1st, and then after that what should l upgrade...i hear things like cool intake exhaust is good but idk whats recomended to start from stock on up

I'd start with a 2.5'' exhaust a good muffler then go with a little larger throttle on the intake and see where that gets you.

The modular motors need to breathe, badly, in & out. Start with & off road X-Pipe (keep ur old one for smog if needed) use a good flowing muffler (Flowmasters & Spin Tech is r loud but flow well). then l would go to a cold air intake, stay away from ones that use metal for the piping as it conducts heat. Also find one that mounts the filter in the fender well or somewhere outside of the engine bay. If they r mounted in the engine bay u pull hot air & get fan wash so u do not get the full potential of the kit. l am not sure if they make a phenolic spacer for these motors yet but they help out too. If u want a challenge, a set of headers can be worth while as well but they can be a bear to install. stepping up to a steeper gear can help get the motor into the power band quicker as well. Check out Paul is High Performance, he has done some amazing things to the modular motors & has some great performance parts as well. Good luck & have fun!!!!!!

It all depends on how far ur trying to go with the upgrades, the first thing u need to do is make a goal, set ur mind on what ur trying to get out of ur car, maybe like a mild daily driver or a wild street racer, or a fast drag racer. Once you've done that see if you're gonna go as far as a power adder or just a N/A set up, because if u just order a supercharger kit, it is gonna come with everything u will need to take ur already fast stock stang to an insane performance vehicle. It is way easier than just spending money on parts & not knowing which way you're gonna go in the future.

l have an 06 gt. The absolute best upgrade for this car other than a sc or turbo is a cai & tune combo. look into a jlt cai, sct xcal tuner, & a custom tune for ur vehicle. really woke my car up. You can feel the change right away.

l also have worked on my exhaust. l put an o/r h on & have stinger axlebacks. If u change the exhaust do it for the sound. You wo not see any gains from a muffler swap & l actually feel less torque down low with the o/r h than stock.

My first upgrade would be a tuner/ intake combo.

then gears and spray.

a general modification program includes the following, the order l have listed is generally best

.performance:
-cold air intake & increased throttle body (minimum 73mm, better if u intend to add headers, 75mm)
-performance exhaust (best r magnaflow, bassani, flowmasters, borla,mac, slp). the exhaust system should be catbacks(x-pipe) if u want sound & performance. installation of axlebacks or just mufflers r for posers.
--headers (single best power up option u can add in terms of hp gain, torque increase &throttle response, but requires intake & exhaust to be effective (if u have questions as to whether to go long tubes or shorties u can write me)
-performance tuning chip (either predator or sct). this can be used at various stages of the modification program to re-tune ur engine to effectively use the modifications (advance ignition, utilize higher octane). it may be best at completion of these installations to have perf. shop run a pro tune on the car (they can use a predator or sct for this).

overall the above program will increase ur HP over stock by approx 25-30% at the crank, & a lot of that will get to the rear wheels making u quick indeed. much of these modifications r inter-dependent (a CA l for example adds little on its own, but is necessary for headers & exhaust).

transmission
-stock manual transmission/clutch is strong & can handle performance upgrades but u should install short throw shifter for faster shifts.

rear end
install bigger gears, either 3.73 is or 4.10's-these will add a lot of pick-up at the get-go. 4.10 is r best if most of ur driving is street, if u do a lot of commuting or freeway driving go with 3.73's

suspension/chassis:
-mustangs respond well to being lowered , use eibach springs (or equivalent)
-stock chassis set up is weak, best to install full, length sub chassis connectors (steeda or equivalent). absolutely needed if its a convertible.
-in due course add anti sways or further strengthening torsion members at rear end (depends on power upgrades)

there r other things that can be done (always are) to the ride but this would basically complete a strong modification program to a mustang (without enhancing internals -heads, bottom end, etc). at this point ur car would be very quick & strong & great to drive.

if u want to go further (and basically all of the above have to be installed 1st) the stock engine can be further enhanced by forced induction (turbo or supercharger) at mild boost or nitrous kit (short shot). u can take the engine up to range of maximum 425rwHP with these making u a serious contender indeed (to go to higher levels of boost/power) u have to add race heads, swap in forged internals).
