Any idea of the costs involved? This makes me so sad to be happening right around the holidays, but we will survive, l guess. Bummer though!
The car is a 2002 Ford Explorer. The heater has been acting up and the mechanic we are going to said it sounds like a heater core issue. Any idea how much this is going to cost our lil' family?

2 are u sure its not the blend doors or heater core valve?

If you have ( No ) heAT IN YOUR PASSENGER COMPARTMENT THIS WILL RULE OUT A HEATER CORE ISSUE, or bad thermostat. There are times when a heater core will become clogged with gunk from the cooling system and it gets stuck in the parts of the radiator and heatercore another Radiator.

You can buy after market heater core for around $30, it is pretty easy to replace. Although, l would also replace the thermostat as well as fresh anti-freeze.
