so l really wanna buy a mustang, but my mom says that ford company isnt that good at making the car strong and itll break down alot on the road and stuff. so l just wanna know alllll the cons to buying a ford mustang. also, a 6 cylinder and auto, not stickshift.

not fuel efficient. it is a heavier car so it takes more gas to pull all that weight.

its an american, so its made more for straight line power and not for handling. handling really is the only con l can think of other than people think all people with mustangs are douchebags, and are often right.

I've had a 2006 Mustang GT for almost a year now. l get 18.5 MPG city & close to 23 MPG highway. The 6 cylinder should get a little better than this.say 20/25.

As for insurance, mine is $900 per annum which is not bad. A large number of factors go into insuring the car. As for the possibility of Ford going into Chapter 11 bankruptcy.this would only effect warranty work. Ford car parts r relatively easy to come by. I'd suggest that u get either a lightly used 2005-2007 or get an extended warranty with a 3rd party.

By ''making the car strong'' do you mean structurally, or reliability?

PRO:

Chicks like Mustangs.
They're easy to work on.
Parts are cheap.
They're sporty.
There are a million performance upgrades.

CON:

They're rear-wheel drive, which means that they're awful in snow.
They're a bigger car, so bye-bye fuel economy.

The mustang is a great car & has been continuously produced since 1964. will always be available for it & the 6 cylinder version is very economical. Contrary to what ur mom says, the car is very well built & if maintained will last a long time. l own 3 fords 2 of them r mustangs & the other is a ford truck. My Ford truck has almost 200,000 miles on it & still has all of it is original equipment, even the battery. One of my mustangs is a 2001 SVT Cobra & it also has all of its original equipment. Even though the Cobra is high performance it still gets over 25 mpg on the highway. Your 6 cylinder should get even better mileage than that. My other mustang is a 1968 fastback with a 500 hp nascar 427 side oiler engine. This is the version of the mustang made famous by Steve McQueen in the movie Bullit & later in the movie gone in 60 seconds. The car is a joy to drive & it also has lasted well over its 40+ year life. The only disadvantage to the car is that because it is rear wheel drive, it is a little harder to drive in snow & ice than a front wheel drive or all wheel drive car. Beside that, there is not too much downside & u will have a huge group of other owners & enthusiasts that appreciate ur ride.

The main problem l would have is that, like MOST smaller cars, they r NOT easy to work on due to lack of room under the hood. ( l tend to do my own repairs when needed.)

They r just as good as most american cars, but r NOT designed for other than paved roads.

IF u learn to drive ''easily (without rabbit starts & hard braking stops), the mileage can be pretty good, especially on the 6.

CERTAIN model years were NOT known for reliability, mostly in the ''high power'' models.

IF it is a used vehicle, have a mechanic check it over before buying it for any problems.

PRO:

Good for getting girls.
They're easy to hook up.
Parts are cheap.
They look good in general
The aftermarket for performance parts is huge.

CON:
Snow

Ricers constantly try and race you.
Ricers try to follow you after you have toasted them
it is a v6. That is the biggest con. buy a v8 and a 5 or 6 speed

Simple, do not buy a Ford.
