How do they drive , are they pretty quick? Ive just sold my escort 1.6 16v (tuned) nd it was rather fast. what do l look out 4 eg. rust and running probs if there is any?
To answer no.2 : yea im after the mk3 (89') onwards. ive seen a few about and most in my price range. l did spot a corolla gti 16v on ebay for £250 but ive never been near a toymota, l know ford and the engines inside out so im gonna keep with what l know. to answer no.3: xr3 is are like hens teeth specialy one in reasonable condition

l had one once in the 80s. A fun car in its day, hard on tyres devoured petrol, and yes rather prone to rust. But a fun car if you can find a good one, very fast in their day but probably quite pathetic by modern 1600cc cars now

You hardly see any now . You definitely mean the injection version do u ? Those which were introduced on a '' G '' plate in 1989 ? They were reasonably fast in their day, 0-60 was 9 secs from the 1.6 Ford CVH engine, top speed was 118MPH. l test drove a newish one, at the time, the build quality & ergonomics left alot to be desired and, it had horrendous torque steer when u floored it. l bought a Toyota Corolla GTi instead - a twin cam 16 valve engine & that was great ! You will be hard pressed to find one now, esp a good one.

mine drank more fuel than my xr3, they dont feel nice to drive so go for the xr3, black, red. or grey.
