which is your preference, which will run the best, which has the best gas mileage, and which one has more horsepower?

F-250 V10- l have one get about 13 MPG, runs great!!

I'd go with a Triton.

l would normally go for a diesel over a large gas engine, but not if some junk Navistar Powerstroke engine.

v10 is strong - lots of power - less mileage - weighs less - last less
Power stroke - less power - a lot more torque - best for pulling - better mileage - better for environment (Less refining) - heavy - very thick & very tough engine (will last very long time) diesel is the next step in the progression of the enviro. friendly auto. l would get a diesel l have a F250 with the 6.0L & love it. l hear the new 6.4L is very good. For the guy that thinks the diesel has less power he is wrong. Put a chip in it & it will run like a raped ape. l would put my truck up against his truck & probly smoke it. It gets better mileage with the programmer & l have never heard of a V-10 getting 13mpg is Everyone that l have talked to that had one only get about 10mpg's. The diesel will outlast the gas engine. Yes ford had problems with the 6.0L but l have one of the first ones built & have very good luck with it. The 6.0 (vt365) & the 6.4 (maxx force 7) r decent motors but require TLC. They r considered high performance diesels & need to be taken care of to a T. They have injector problems if the oil, & the oil & fuel filters r not changed at or before the oil change interval. The coolant system requires about 75 gpm of flow. The wrong coolant will sludge & clog the oil cooler & take out the egr cooler. As long as u can keep good maitanance on it they can be very good engines. The 7.3 (444E) Is also a very good motor with a good running history back to the 90's. Do not no much about the v-10. But the diesels will get better mileage & last alot longer. They r tough motors.

I've had no problems with my powerstroke all l do is regular maintenance on it. It has a custom 4 inch exhaust l built and that is the only modification to it. it gets around 14 mpg pulling a 12,000 lb fifth wheel camper.

If cost is not an issue, I'd got with a 7.3L.

But, since most sellers r morons, cost is an issue, so the gasser would have to do.

l was looking on Craigslist & saw a 2002 F250 CC/LB/4x4 with 122,000 miles & a new engine & torque converter & some other parts for $17,500.

The book value is $8400ish for private sale.

l was not even looking into paying for the fact that the moron chipped that truck & blew up the engine & trans.

Diesel for sure . It will outwork the gas banger every time.
