Go on like Kelleys Blue book & get an idea about what its worth.if u look up retail prices versus private sales, u will see that the car could be worth $10,000 but a dealer will charge u like $13,000. If u buy it from a person, like if u see the sign on the car, or in a newspaper, they will charge u what its worth, not a bunch of bull. Great idea to save now so u can get it later. Way better to have all the cash. Too many people get car loans & they end up paying twice over for the car.

go to ebay to see, l have a 69 candy apple red fastback with 289 hy-po automatic and would sell it for 4 grand l have a FFR, mk111, roadster and it would go for 25,000, but the 03 l havent a clue

between 7-15 grand. go to autotrader.com and type in your search.

If l were you l would not go for a gt the insurance is 3x as much as a v6. find a nice v6 and buy performance parts for it. You can make a v6 beat a gt. l got a 2003 v6 for about 6k with 65,000 miles on it but it has a few problems but they are easy fixes.

get a v6 for insurance reasons. l pay 300 a month for full insurance on my 2002 V6 mustang. you can put a supercharger or turbo it for the difference you pay for the V8.

GT is run about $10,000-13,000.

l highly recommend u track car prices on Craigslist for ur area, for example here us the site for Craigslist for Seattle-Tacoma area, for 2003 Mustangs:

if u have not used craigslist before, easy & free & allows u to target for vehicles in a specific city (or neighboring state.)..craigslist.com

i would stick to ur plan to get a gt..unless u found a really premium 6 cylinder, with low miles & that had a manual transmission. u might consider the 6 cylinder if u were handy with a wrench or had a family member that was good with cars, because the 6 with installation kits (cold air intake, performance manifold plus catbacks/dual exhaust) can be taken up to about 220hp..very close to the gt if u went with a low boost supercharger on the v-6 u would get to about 290hp or better than a stock gt...plus it would be lighter & better handling.

but unless u could do a lot of the work yourself..labor costs/shop time would be expensive & therefore would be best to stick with the gt plan
