ok l have 1988 f150 that has a starting problem! l thought it was the battery but l got a new one today and everytime l try to start it l need to get it jumped off!! l know it isnt the alternator because its brand new and iv had it tested yesterday!! can some one please help me with this problem it never fails to need it jump started when l go some where please help me

Maybe your battery terminal is corroded, and it only starts when you have jumper cables touching the cable directly. You could also have a bad ground from the battery to the frame. It is got to be something with the battery cables if you have a new battery and alternator and the truck will start with a jump.

Check the fuel filter

even tho the battery is new you could got a bad one

make sure the ignition switch is off and the is nothing on if the radio is still on the truck still has power going to it if this is the case the ignition switch is out of time or the tumbler is out of time if it is the switch loosen the 2 retaining nuts and slide it up to the steering wheel until power goes off and tighten if it is the tumbler you will need to remove the tumbler and correct the gears behind the tumbler usually its only one tooth off
