The theft light flashes whenever the car is turned off.Is this normal?l thought l heard a siren when l was driving, thought l was getting pulled over by police, but there was none behind me.l would like to hear from people who have 99 Ford Explorer to hear what they think about it.Also the door ajar light always stays on.l have lubed all the doors but it still stays on.Any help would be great!

l have a 2000 and the theift light flashes any time the key is off. l never heard about a siren on the car, maybe some one added that to yours. The door ajar light is controled by the door light switch, they are only on the two front doors. Try pushing then in manually and see if the light goes out. The switchs are cheap and not hard to install.

Theft light- Yes it is normal, it is supposed to be a theft deterrant, also the bulb helps in diangnosis if there is a problem with the system.

The door ajar light, Most in other parts of the nation can lube them to working again, in high humidity areas (the south where l am for one) we wind up replacing them cause they will keep causing the issue as they stick. also have u lubed the tailgate? the tailgate door latches (all 3 of them) also turn on that light

l am a dealer Ford Tech. The theft light is designed to flash with the key off. It flashes very slowly.

The problem with the door is in the switch which is mounted on the latch, inside the door.
Dirt causes them to stick. If you remove it and clean it, it will work fine.
