So I am thinking of buying this 1997 Ford Thunderbird for $2500.It only has about 127k miles on it.It is in great shape.Both interior and exterior.

Would this be a good buy?
Is the T-Bird considered a sports car?
How fast can one with a V6 engine go?l want a speedy car.
Is it rear wheel drive, or front wheel drive?
Would you recommended this car?

3. With the V6 it is not fast, The V6 models tend to blow head gaskets on a regular basis. The V6 has 150 HP and the car weighs nearly two tons, do the math.

1. The price isnt that great, especially for having the v-6 engine, & the v-6 cars typically skmp out on some of the nicer features.
2. well most people think of a sports car as 2 door rear wheel drive. so yes.
3. not at all, even the v-8 cars r kinda slow from the factory. the sc is can be quick but r very labor intensive..
4. rear wheel drive.
if u want a sports car, go get a sports car, not a 2 ton mammoth. the v-8 cars r very reliable & can be fun with a few bolt ons, the sc is are/can be fast but they r more of a toy & break down a lot.
i have a 96 v-8 origional driveline & has 165,000 on it & still runs like a top.

it might be a good buy at 1800 or so, l would not pay 2500 unless it is remarkably clean or has some other great points about it. 127k is kind of high mileage. It is not a very sporty car, nor luxury, they r just a comfortable people mover type of ride, pretty average. My cougar has the v8 & it' s not too fast & it is a heavy car so l assume the v6 is a bit of a dog. it is rear wheel drive which is nice if u enjoy driving. l do recommend the thunderbird, great cars, age well, not much trouble with mine, but get a better price.
