got a 96 ford fiesta classic D 1800 with a fat battery and cant find a bonnet relese catch inside of the car. l have found what feels like one under the frount of the bonnett but its very stiff and l dont know which direction to apply pressure from the front of the car. Forward towards the engine, back, left, right, up, or, down. l dont wish to break it by forcing it in the wrong direction.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try looking under the steering colum! should be a red leaver pull it towards the drivers seat (pivot motion) or look in the manual that allways helps! hehe

Orange pull lever thing under steering column. Pull it and the bonnet will pop up. Walk to the front of your car, feel behind the ford badge on the bonnet, and then there is a lever to move to the side while pulling up and the thing will just come up when you push it

i've done this before. get under the front side of the car from under neath look up behind the bumper. infront of the radiator you will see the bonnet release latch, attached to it is the release cable (same as bicycle brake cable) pull the cable cover backward and pull the cable away from the latch with plyers. this should release the latch and expose the locking pin visible when standing infront of the vehicle.

the bonnet release should be directly under the steering wheel run your hand along the plastic panel and you should find it.if you pull it and it does not release then get someone to tap or push down on the bonnet at same time

If all else fails, try using a crowbar. It is only a ford after all..
