The air bag is presurized by a small compresser. If the lite stays on, its an expensive problem. Call your local ford dealer and find out what a new airbag costs installed. You should consider that cost when you buy the car.

Yah l agree. It is a dealership pproblem. Might as well take it to them and have them fix it.

l am having that problem with a 2007 merc under warranty. Talked to dealer today
he said it could be a computer problem or a number of other things. Could
even be the result of a low battery at times causing a computer failure.
Mine is under warranty but yours wo not be.
l have read some articles recently about faulty repairs to airbags by
many shops. It will be an expensive repair if that is what it needs.
Be careful buying used cars. It has been said ''you r buying the sellers Problems.''

When the Airbag light goes on, the light status indicates what is wrong. The blinking code indicates what the failing mode is. A steady light with no blinking indicates the RCM module is inoperative or disconnected.

It could be the airbag or seatbelt tensioner. You have sensors, safety belt status, passenger seat sensors, etc. l would suggest u take it to Ford & have them read the codes from the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) to zero in on this. Let their information determine ur true repair costs.

if the air bag lite is on this means that the air bags will not deploy if the car is hit at a rate of speed the common problem is the the clock spring in the streering wheel.. costly repair but if you can stand looking at the light and not having air bag deployment when need there is no problem but if you want the added safty then the clock spring needs to be repaired
