so l just bought a nearly mint condition 69 mustang mach 1, it will need an engine rebuild and probibly a new trans, some lady had it sitting in her garage for a few years and it needs a little help. l need to know what l can do with the original 351ci engine, l wanna do a rebuild but ive never done such extensive work on a ford engine before. l also wanna go original paint if l can but l do not know anyone that knows the original color scheme. l have just finished designing the full roll cage, and l just neet the info on a rebuild that wont cast too much but will get good performance, a trans rebuild kit and possibly a new rear diff. and paint choices.

The first thing to get is a Mustang repair manual that covers your year, they have a full decoder. You can get your data plate decoded at this group..

l think you can find the codes that will tell you the original color scheme of your car. But if you're not restoring it to original condition, it does not really matter. Just paint it whatever color you like.

if l knew which 351 it is that would help the w or m, u can turbo or supercharge it the cheaper option would be to get a vortex supercharger which is a combo of the 2, but for the rear l would go to a salvage yard & get a a ford 9in out of a truck { heavier duty} trans l would take it to a shop & have them rebuild it & put a shift kit in it. If u want to repaint it to stock factory colors get the vin # & take it to a ford dealer & have them look it for you.but, if ur painting it any color u choose l would go wit 98 ford metallic blue with silver racing strips like on most Chevelle's
