..fine, no scoring, grooves. l did not mic. it. l reinstalled a new outer bearing and seal,it fit tight in the housing end, and the axle into the carrier, but the axle still has too much play.
The owner of the car is a friend and he says he will get another axle to try, but l wondered about some difference in the 8.8 axle diameters between years? Another mechanic had changed the same bearing shortly before the owner brought it by ands said it only lasted for a couple days. l guess it could look smooth but still be worn out, l was trying to save him a couple bucks.
