Who knows where to by a 1967 for mustang motor?
l wanna buy a 1967 mustang motor....where can l get one? and new or used is fine, l just need a well working motor....and how much do they go for? l got this for my 16th birthday...so l really wanna get it fixed up its a project l am looking forward to,

Why not go find yourself a donor fox body mustang? The 302 will drop right in and you can steal all the electronics and the harness and enjoy the beauties of fuel injeciton. Try Autozone. The go through Craigslist. l just looked and saw a few in Houston. Any engine shop can get you one. Try speedomotive.com if you want something with pep. :)

You need to know what size engine it is.

How do you know that the engine is cooked? Is it rebuildable?

You can get a crate engine from Ford. You can get a used engine from a wrecking yard or do a search on Craigslist.

it all depends on what you want or need, 200 inch six, or 289 inch v8? Long block or short block? complete running engine? a complete used engine can be bought for $400-$800 at salvage yards, a rebuilt short block from a parts house for $800-$1500, and a rebuilt or new 289/302 $1600-$2800 from parts house or Ford dealer..

It all depends on these 4 factors:
1) How important originality is to you

2) How much performance u want

3) How much you're willing to spend

4) If u want a complete ''ready to run'' engine or one that requires work.

Is this a Mustang that is almost complete & will be drivable with the addition of a new motor? If l had a limited budget & wanted a strong running motor for it, I'd try to find a nice 302 or 351 V8 out of a car or truck at a junkyard that is in either ''running'' or ''almost running'' condition. Then get it running & drop it in the Mustang.

Otherwise, u can purchase a brand new ''ready to run'' crate motor for it. Here is a good site to buy new replacement engines:

It being a 67 model more than likely it is a 302. There easy to get but me personally l would not buy one out of a mustang because most of them have already been rung out by the previous owner or they would not be in the junk yard. If u have a slick body & all it needs is a motor & u have to buy from a junk yard u may as well expect to have it rebuilt. Besides the cost of the motor it could run u as much as 1,800 just to get it rebuilt. Expect to pay at least 300 for a rebuild able motor. There goes 2'100 of someones hard earned money. You may as well go new. You can buy a complete motor from ford for close to that amount. Maybe even a little less. If u do not want the added expense of swapping over the fuel injection from a mustang u can order a intake & carb from summit racing that will bolt up to the new 302 roller motor. Then u r looking at getting someone to put it in. Expect to pay at least 150 to 200 for that job. If it needs exhaust u will expect to pay at least 300 for that if it needs it. Lots of work & lots of money.

You could also go with a 302, although that was not what they put in 67's

You can get one from a junkyard - any 302 or 351 will do. They came in everything from Crown Vics to Mustangs to pickup trucks. You can buy one on eBay. There are many shops that make Mustang crate engines including Ford Motorsport.

Not having a budget or networks in ur local community is a problem.

l would suggest, STRONGLY, that u join the local Mustang Club. If anybody has an engine sitting around it will be them or they will know where to get one. l had a problem finding a rear end for my TR4 & found a club member who gave me one -- free!

Not only do they know their Mustangs, they also know how to keep them running on a budget, what is important & what can be delayed. Getting a used engine is a sound decision & the club can point to reliable sources.
