l have a 1999 mustang with a 3.8 L, and l am wanting to put true duals on it. Will l lose power if l just take the catylic converters off?

l think you would actually gain power, not lose it. it is less restrictive and makes your car lighter.

l you live in a state that does an emissions inspection you will lose the ability to register your vehicle. Also if your vehicle is not finley tuned your car will smoke. It wont pollute any more or less it will just smoke. It might free up a few 3-5 Hp not enough to merit removing them because of the potential repercussions down the road.

Unfortunately, yes u will lose power if u remove cats. Reason being:
you have a post catalytic converter oxygen sensor. This sensor needs to read clean exhaust. (not too rich, & not too lean) If there is no converter present, it will constantly read rich, & ur computer will compensate for the rich condition by reducing fuel flow to the engine. resulting in power loss. u may want to consider installing high flow converters in ur dual exhaust, This way u keep the power, but get the duals!

the answer you are looking for is no. you will not loose power, youll actually get a few of the horses you are supposed to have at the wheels. however, because they filter the carbon out of your exhaust, if you have to have the car pass an emissions test when you take it in to get inspected, you will fail because all of that carbon is going out the back.

If you are looking for power, why go with the V6?

no do not take it off.the difference is so small, and your on board com. will never work right again till you replace them.
