I am trying to find the timing mark on a 1965 Mustang with a 289 V8. There are no distinguished marks on the HB so l do not know where to set the timing light. Does anyone know the degrees to which their timing mark is set at in correlation to the key of the HB?

hello,.. try to locate a line on the HB , it will look li8ke a plain line clean the balancer real good, when and if you find it take some white paint and mark it. All cars have them but sometimes they get filled with dirt and grease. It is there just keep looking . email me if you need more help.

right down by the harmonic balancer there,s a scale with numbers on them, that,s where you mark the timing at and on the balancer you have a slot, mark the slot too and when the right mark lines up with slot then it,s timed.

unless someone has changed it to a after market it should be there. It could be painted over so You may have to take a wire brush and clean it to see it. There is a heavy line with TDC for 0 and small lines with increments of 3,6,9,12 .. You line one of those up with the small pointer near the bottom of the timing chain cover drivers side..
