l just bought a 4x4 95 ford f150 for plowing this winter, but itnotied a puddle of gas under the truck shortly after l filled it, can l repair this myself?! or is it a huge problem?

There are a few options. You can try to find a used one but l assume you are in the north and the ones in the junk yard are likely in the same condition as yours. The second option is a bladder that goes inside the tank. You have to cut it open and place the bladder in it. This can be a lil tricky and dangerous so you may want to have a mechanic do it for you.

replace it.. l did one on my sis is 86 F 150..except for getting real dirty just unhook filler neck..loosen bolts/straps and take it down.careful of wires.a new one is 250 to 300 dollars..shop around prices vary wildly.. any repair is not gona hold..used? no..the job of in and out is not super hard but u do not want to do it twice..bladder? oh pleeeese

you do not try and repair one that is leaking ,unless its just a leak at the filler neck hose or leaking from on the top where someone has replaced a pump and did not get it sealed off good,if its got a hole in it replace it,those are not that expensive to replace,repairing one is dangerous,good luck.

If its leaking, replace it! Trying to seal it or otherwise repair it will only lead to more problems down the line, and or the possibility of a gas fire from a spark or other source.

huge problem you probably have a bad case of rust on the tank to you would either have to drop it and weld it, hence the problem it will be full of fumes. they sell several replacements made from high grade plastic that will probably be better for you

Get a new gas tank. That is the best solution. l suppose you could use Mighty Putty.

If it did not leak until it was full u may just need to tighten up some the filler nosel. if u hit something & have a small hole check at the parts house there used to be some stuff it is like that commercial for that bonding stuff that u mash the 2 colors of putty together & and then u put it over the hole if not to big & if it can dry it will seal
To do this u may need to drain the tank. If all else fails go to junk yard & try to find a used tank. but u may run into the same problem there.

l had the same problem with my 96 ranger. It may not be yuour tank leaking. The fill hose on mine is a two part hose. There is the outer hose u can see but inside that is a smaller diameter hose that is part of the vapor return system. The fuel runs thurough the inner hose into the tank & when the tank is full the fuel backs up into the larger hose & that is the one that is leaking. If u can find a crack in the outer hose ypu may be able to repair it. The replacement hose assy cost me $357.80 so repair may be a good bet. Good luck

l would not try to repair it. l would replace it. l bought a new fuel tank for my 88 Chevy C1500 pick-up truck at Autozone for about $150 and that included a replacement lock ring and gasket set for the electric fuel pump and sending unit. l changed it myself in just a little more than an hour. But do not make the mistake l made. There was two different sizes of fuel tanks listed for my truck, a 26 gallon tank and a 34 gallon tank. l bought the wrong tank on the first trip.

It is not worth trying to fix a leaky gas tank. It never works out. Just replace with a brand new gas tank. And while you're at it, this is a good time to replace those rusted fuel lines, cause the tank is out of the way. And l like to coat the new tank with grease to protect it from rusting out again. And you could throw some rust paint on the new fuel lines to help preserve them.
