I am driving a f-150. l think i'm going to lift it up. either a 4 or 6 inch lift. How can l increase the horsepower? its an older model 4x4.

Most basic power upgrade you can do to your car without spending too much is to change your air intake to a performance aftermarket model. If it already does have one, then a supercharger is what you need.

put a big asss mother fucker super charge on the bitches engine and see what that does to your pants..lol

Supercharge it.

If u r lifting it, u should change the gear ratios (front & rear to match so the transfer case does not go kaboom in 4wd). This way u do not need to increase power.

However, if u want an increase in power u should go with bolt ons like intake. Reason l am saying bolt ons is because if u r asking how to build power u wo not be able to take the motor apart, throw a different cam in it, or do anything like that. Other options for a more serious bolt on, would be as the other guy mentioned; a supercharger. (You can build bigger power cheaper with a hotter cam, smaller heads, bigger injectors, different manifold)

l have the same truck except a 89 and l put a new exhuast, a cherry bomb on it, and then a k&n air intake and to top it off a 70 dollar easy to instal chip from slr performance, and these actuallly work. try it,

Cheap and inexpensive and increase in hp do not mix. A cai, handheld tuner, o/r exhaust.

You're going to need to regear. If you have the I6 or a 302 you will want to go with 4.56 is if you have 33-35 inch tires. If you have the 351 you can probably get away with 4.10s. Since it is a 4x4 both axles will need to be done. Expect to pay around $1200 for both.
