Will Ford ever take responsibility for their engine design flaw?

Funny l see this post, because l believe my buddy is Excursion is in the shop right now for this very thing. That is pretty messed up to say the least. From the sound of it, it looks like Ford made some really cheap ass heads on that engine. Must be some really cheap aluminum.

l am going to post that link up on a couple of car forums. Maybe if more people see this, and more people come out against it, something might be done.

Thanks for finding that link!

No they won't. This would be the largest recall ever & since they r on the verge of bankruptcy if they admitted fault it would push them over the edge. So they continue to claim the problem is improper maintenance.

Since this is not a safety issue the government is powerless to do anything. The only solution is a class action lawsuit. l have heard about several lawsuits in the works but l do not know of any that have been filed. l suspect the problem is that lawyers r afraid that Ford would simply declare bankruptcy to avoid having to pay any damages.

spark plugs come out because they were changed and not put back tight, or wrong plug was used when changed

l guessing you guys are talking about 5.4 and 4.6 plugs blowing out wait tell you see and 05-06 5.4 3v where they wo not come out at all

Anybody using steel plugs or inserts in aluminum heads should know how important seating them properly is & not cross threading them. It has always been a challenge, not distinctly Ford's.
P.S.:
Notice how many miles r on these vehicles & most likely all of them had plugs changed by an improperly trained mechanic. If the plug blows out it is the mechanic is fault, Make him/her do or pay for the repair.
l made the same mistake on a Corvair (Steel plugs in an aluminum head) many, many years ago & had to do the repair.

I've got news for u guys. It is usually NOT, l repeat NOT caused by the plugs being changed by an improperly trained mechanic. It happened to me. All of my work is done by the Ford dealer where l bought my Expedition. 5000 miles after a tune up by a Ford dealer, l blew a plug. #3 to be exact. Ford in Chicago wanted $4500 for a new head. l had a new motor installed for $7000. The new one is an '05. So far, 1 tune up & no issues. THe problem is the design of the heads. l was told this off the record in person by 3 different dealers. Class action wo not help. Look at the Explorer settlement. $500 vouchers to buy another Ford. Those who r truly angry wo not use them, & those who use them will just get a discount of $500 less than usual. The only ones who make money on a class action r the lawyers. You can bet they did not get paid in vouchers. Just do like me. Tell everyone u can find. Deal with the vehicle until u can dump it & buy another brand.

LOL at Fordtech, my little joke at work, 2V engine, can not keep the plugs in, 3V engine, can not get the plugs out, what gives? Yes on the 2V engine there just is not quite enough threads in the heads to hold the spark plugs in & has caused quite a few dents in hoods. As far as a recall, l do not see it happening, it is not a safety issue & it always seems to happen well after the vehicle has left the warranty period. l have sleeved a bunch of these blown out plugs with good success rates, actually, no failures so far from sleeving them, & l have done at least 15 blowouts with sleeves that held just fine, & believe me, a couple hundred bucks for a sleeve, is much better than 2,000 for a head, that has been redesigned of course, if u do get a new head, there r more spark plug threads to hold it in. The ones that l like here lately r the 3V engines vehicles that get towed to our dealership because independent garages have broken the plugs off trying to get out, & we have to remove the heads to repair, so a simple spark plug change at the local garage turns into a 3,000 dollar job because they do not know how to get them out the correct way, we have a customer who is suing a local garage now over a 3V job that we had to fix that they broke off two plugs in the head because they did not know how to get them out. It does not matter who installs the plugs in the 2V engine though, there were never enough threads in those heads from the factory to hold the spark plugs, but the failure rate is much, much less than the success rate of that engine, l do not think u will see a recall.
