im looking into forced induction systems for my car and would like to know how many pounds of boost my car can handle safely.

l would not go more than 5-6 Psi of boost. You should be fine running that, along with a proper program for the PCM

the late profile 6 is r quite strong & a number of bolt on installations r available that will allow u to run stock 6 up into the range of 320 to 350hp...which puts u at approx 7-8 psi...for example

you will of course have to add a performance cold air intake/increased throttle body, performance exhaust-catbacks/duals, & preferably performance headers.
in addition u will require a re-tune of ur engine is management system.

all in u will be faster than stock GT, & most modified GT is on the road...power plus u r lighter.

the shelby terlingua is experimenting with a paxton blower on stock internals running at about 380hp..touch extreme.
